History

Ligneus (Lat. Lignum = wood, Ligneus = wooden)

  • 1904
    Mentioned for the first time by formal deed as the in-house carpenter's workshop of the company Kaisers-Kaffeegeschäft.

  • 1923
    An additional carpenter's workshop is set up in Viersen.

  • 1925
    Take-over of a large steam carpenter's workshop by business magnate Josef Kaiser and thus the largest carpenter's workshop in the Lower Rhine.

  • 1928
    A major fire destroys the entire plant on 3rd August. Shortly after this reconstruction to new size.

  • 1948
    The allied protecting powers took possession of the entire buildings of Kaisers, including the carpenter's workshop, 4 weeks after the currency reform. It was only in 1961 that the business could return from the evacuation zone.

  • 1993
    In order to meet the requirements for shop fittings after the reunification, a new plant was built on a production area of 7,500 m2 near Dresden besides the great Tengelmann Logistics Centre in Ottendorf-Okrilla.

  • 2006
    Giving up the cramped plant in Viersen and moving the management and sales department to Ottendorf-Okrilla.
